Oral Fluid Drug Testing
The donor places a treated collection pad between his or her lower cheek and gum for at least two minutes. The
collection pad is put into a vial, sealed and sent with a form for analysis.
What drugs can you detect in oral fluid?
Our oral fluid drug testing service can detect the following drugs: marijuana, cocaine, opiates, amphetamines,
barbiturates, methadone, benzodiazepines and oxycodone. Additional drug tests can be added to meet your needs.
How does the detection window for oral fluid testing compare with other methods?
The window for oral fluid testing is different for each drug. For most drugs, the window of detection in oral fluid is
about one to three days. Oral fluid testing is excellent for identifying recent usage – during the first few hours after
drug use – that can be missed by urine testing.
What methodology do we employ?
Oral fluid samples are first screened in a laboratory using enzyme immunoassay technology, which is proven reliable
for drug testing. If any specimens test positive, we highly recommend additional testing by gas
chromatography/mass spectrometry – the “gold standard” in drug testing which provides the most sensitive
fingerprint of the target drug available.
Who collects the sample?
The beauty of oral fluid testing is that the donor collects his or her own sample under direct visual supervision.
Without privacy concerns, you no longer have to worry about having the same gender collector available for collection.
What is the turnaround time?
Testing is performed the day samples arrive and negative results are reported within 24 hours.
